Macrocarpa Endurance Horses is a proud, family-run endurance team dedicated to longevity, consistency, and the welfare of their horses. Competing across Australia, the team is known for presenting horses that are healthy, happy, and able to perform season after season thanks to a considered training program, thoughtful husbandry, and a nutrition-first approach. 

Our proudest moment - 2024

In 2024, the team travelled to South Australia with three horses to compete in the iconic Tom Quilty Gold Cup. All three horses completed successful campaigns and together now hold an impressive 11 Tom Quilty buckles.

Results at the 2024 Tom Quilty Gold Cup: 

  • Corey Nix (15th buckle) - 6th Heavyweight, riding Macrocarpa Red Bull 
  • Talyn Nix (4th buckle) - 14th Lightweight, riding Homeleigh Mountain Kosmo 
  • Sanjay Nix (2nd buckle) - 5th Junior, riding Macrocarpa Kaos 
Adding to this milestone, Macrocarpa Red Bull was awarded the prestigious Shareym Trophy, recognising the horse with the most Tom Quilty buckles. Red Bull holds an extraordinary five buckles from five attempts, a testament to his durability, consistency, and partnership with his rider. 

Our non-negotiables in the feed shed 

Our feed shed would never be without Equilibrium Mineral Mix and Equilibrium B1 Cool Mix from Stance Equitec. These supplements provide the foundation of vitamins and minerals our horses need to compete year after year. They support hoof health, overall vitality, and offer a cost-effective, complete vitamin and mineral solution. The B1 Cool Mix gives additional support to horses that need help maintaining focus, allowing them to stay calm, confident, and safe to ride. 

Another one is CoolStance Copra By feeding CoolStance Copra, our horses have the energy to train and compete in a cool, calm, and trainable way - while still being able to go all day. Since introducing CoolStance, we have seen a marked improvement in work ethic, willingness on the trails, and overall relaxation under saddle. Our horses maintain their level of work for longer, their coat condition has improved, and most importantly, they genuinely love eating it.

  • Homeleigh Mountain Khalid’s Komet - 14.3hh, 17 years, 2,258km 
  • Macrocarpa Blizzard - 14.2hh, 6 years, about to begin her endurance career

Our philosophy 

We are a family team committed to ensuring the longevity of our horses in endurance. While we sometimes find ourselves at the pointy end of competition, our results most often reflect our focus on consistency and long-term soundness. In 2025, our senior stallion Macrocarpa Red Bull will join the Decade Team, having competed for ten years with one rider, Corey Nix - a milestone we are incredibly proud of.
